67% Hampden packs a real punch. Simply stunning.
Luca Gargano at Velier has some great rums on offer. I could spend the whole day at the Velier stand.
Foursquare 2013, 64%
So dry and full of tannins and subtle oak. Despite only 2years of ageing this really is fine rum.
Port Mourant Guyana white rum, 59%
Close your eyes and this is not a white rum. Really smooth and creamy and a long woody, leathery finish.

Caroni 57.18%
Wow. Wood and slight sweetness. This develops into a full on smokey, tobacco laden glass of wonderful spice. Not fiery or rough, simply divine.

Caroni 1996, 70.1%
Heavy appearance with long lingering legs. Some wood, tobacco and spice aromas. Absolutely fantastic quality rum, no way that this tastes like 70@% ABV. It is rich, full of smoke and spice plus some nice fire.

A lover of rums, especially British-style from countries such as Jamaica and Barbados.

My first rum was Appleton and that is generally the benchmark I use for comparing rums along with Foursquare. My collection now has (in 2022) over 600 different rums and that number is continually growing.
I am an advocate of the Gargano rum re-categorisation.
As well as rum, I am a big Liverpool fan (and season ticket holder) and love Pet Shop Boys (hence the blog name) as well as having a cute cocker spaniel.
I have a Level 1 WSET qualification in Spirits, Level 2 with Distinction and a level 1 WSET wine qualification.
