The highlight of the rum calendar!
A whole Weekend of drinking rum whilst meeting and speaking to producers, blenders, promoters and other like-minded rum-a-holics.
2016 takes place on October 22nd and 23rd, with the trade-Boutique RumFest on October 21st all taking place at ILEC Conference Centre, 47 Lillie Road, London, SW6 1UD. RumFest
It is thanks to Rumfest that my knowledge and appreciation of rum has grown in recent years. 2016 will be my sixth visit (cannot believe I missed the first four). Each year I have tried and learned about more and more different rums and I hope 2016 will be a similar experience. This will be my first visit since officially starting to blog about rum, so I think it will be even more interesting and rewarding.
In addition to the hundreds of rums available to taste “on the exhibition floor”, one of the big bonuses of the event is attending masterclasses and seminars that give you a chance to taste unique rums as well as learn directly from some of the blenders and promoters. This year, I will be attending many sessions:
Saturday:
12:30 – 13:15 – Rare Rums Hosted by Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell.
14:00 – 14:45 – Velier tasting session 2 with Luca Gargano.
15:00 – 15:45 – Mount Gay Rum Masterclass with Master blender, Allen Smith.
16:15 – 17:00 – El Dorado Rum Masterclass with Master Distiller, Shaun Caleb.
Sunday
15:15 -16:00 Rum’s Place in the Spirits World with Richard Seale from Foursquare.
If that isn’t enough, I will also be attending the Rum University on Friday 21st, followed by the Boutique RumFest 🙂
Rumfest 2015 was great fun. Chatting with Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell and Foursquare’s master blender Richard Seale were my highlights. Just a few minutes in their company and you can learn so much about rum and their amazing passion for it.
Here are some photos from 2015…expect more this year 🙂
