5 EVEN MORE Rums That Show How Diverse Rum Can Be | World Explorer #3

Just when you think you’ve discovered how diverse rum can be, there’s always somewhere else to explore.

Across the first two World Explorer videos, we’ve already travelled through a remarkable range of countries, production methods and rum traditions.

For World Explorer #3, we’re going even further.

This time we’re travelling to Guyana, Jamaica, Haiti, South Africa and Indonesia, with five fascinating expressions that demonstrate just how broad the wider world of rum really is.

🥃 El Dorado Enmore Single Still – Guyana

Produced using the famous wooden Enmore Coffey still, this expression gives us a fascinating connection to Guyana’s historic distilling heritage and a style quite different from the blended Demerara rums many people will be more familiar with.

🥃 Hampden HLCF Classic – Jamaica

A high-ester Jamaican rum from Hampden Estate, showcasing the intense aromas and flavours that can result from Jamaica’s distinctive approach to fermentation and pot still distillation.

🥃 Clairin Casimir – Haiti

Clairin takes us in another direction entirely. Produced from fresh sugarcane juice using traditional methods in Haiti, Casimir demonstrates just how distinctive these small-scale, locally produced cane spirits can be.

🥃 MHOBA Pot Stilled High Ester – South Africa

Produced from fresh sugarcane juice and distilled in pot stills, MHOBA brings South Africa into our journey with a powerful high-ester expression that demonstrates yet another approach to rum production.

🥃 By the Dutch Batavia Arrack – Indonesia

Batavia Arrack has a history stretching back centuries and represents another fascinating branch of the wider rum family. Produced in Indonesia from sugarcane molasses with the involvement of red rice in fermentation, it gives us something very different again.

Five expressions. Five countries. And five completely different demonstrations of what can happen when sugarcane, fermentation, distillation and local traditions come together.

Fifteen bottles into World Explorer and we’re still only scratching the surface.

That’s exactly what this series is about.

There isn’t one single flavour that defines rum. Different raw materials, fermentation methods, stills, climates and traditions have created an extraordinary range of spirits around the world.

And there is plenty more still to discover.
